Meet The Chelsea.

We’re excited to announce our latest silhouette, The Chelsea. From royals to rockstars, Chelsea boots have a long and stylish history. When vulcanized rubber was introduced in the late 1800s, pull-on boots became possible for the first time. The story goes, Queen Victoria asked her cobbler to create boots that wouldn't catch in her stirrups while horseback riding. And thus, the Chelsea boot was born.

This iconic shape has stood the test of time as a tried-and-true wardrobe staple. Our take on this classic silhouette remains true to our sustainable roots, with an upper crafted with Rothy’s signature thread (spun from repurposed plastic water bottles) and outsoles made with recycled TPU. This fashionable boot is the perfect washable, durable and comfortable cool-weather essential.

Our product team spent 10 months perfecting The Chelsea. "Designing a brand new shape allowed us to play with functional details in an exciting way," says Erin Lowenberg, Rothy's Creative Director. "We added elastic to the gore—which is the stretchy section that allows you to pull the shoe on. We also created a heel tab and finished the shoes with beautiful ivory outsoles. This process was such a labor of love.”

Next-level neutrals and wild patterns add a touch of our signature playfulness to this comfy classic. The close fit at the ankle and sleek shape complete this ultra-wearable style. It’s made for racing around the city or heading out on the town. Dress it up or down, pair it with socks or don’t—this boot makes it easy to put your own stylish spin on it.

“The Chelsea simply goes with everything. Personally, I wear mine with a pleated skirt, jeans or just about anything. It really is that versatile,” Erin tells us.

After lots of love and thoughtful craftsmanship, we’re excited to release The Chelsea. It’s ready to carry you wherever the fall season takes you. Now, get moving!
